Nocturnum

Cookie Policy

Last updated: August 31, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how Nocturnum uses cookies, local storage, session storage, and similar technologies, why we use them, and how you can manage them. It covers the Witch Power Reading quiz, both Past Life Reading quiz variants, and the related checkout, account, and member-area features. The storage used depends on the quiz and features you access.

1. What Are Cookies and Local Storage?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device when you visit a website. They help websites remember information about your visit and support functionality such as authentication, security, analytics, personalization, and payment processing.

Local storage is a similar browser-based technology that allows websites to store information directly in your browser. Unlike many cookies, local-storage information may remain on your device until it is deleted by you, your browser, or the Service. Session storage usually lasts for the current browser-tab session.

We use cookies, local storage, session storage, and similar technologies to operate, secure, improve, personalize, and analyze the Nocturnum Service.

2. Cookies and Storage Technologies We Use

We use storage for core Service functionality, quiz recovery, analytics, and advertising. The tables identify the technologies used by the applicable Nocturnum feature. A name ending in * represents a family of identifiers; <project-ref> represents the authentication project's identifier.

The main quiz is the Witch Power Reading quiz. Past Life Reading has two variants, with separate quiz-progress storage. Payment-cookie names reflect the applicable checkout flow and do not change the reading you purchased.

The durations below describe browser storage, not how long related information may be retained on our servers. Third-party cookies depend on provider settings, consent signals, and browser restrictions; loading a provider's script does not mean every visitor receives every cookie. See Section 7 for the controls currently available.

3. Cookie Categories

Strictly Necessary Cookies and Storage

These technologies support core functionality, including authenticating users, securing account and payment access, maintaining checkout continuity, and providing access to purchased digital content. Blocking them may prevent those features from working.

Functional and Quiz-Recovery Storage

These technologies remember language and Service states, save quiz answers and progress, and help you resume an interrupted Witch Power Reading or Past Life Reading experience. Quiz state can include personal information you enter and, for the Witch Power Reading flow, a palm image.

Non-Essential Analytics and Advertising Technologies

These technologies support analytics, session replay, funnel and conversion analysis, advertising attribution, campaign measurement, and improvements to the user experience. They are distinct from storage needed to sign in or complete a payment.

4. Analytics Technologies

We use first-party analytics and integrations including PostHog and Microsoft Clarity to understand how users interact with the Nocturnum website, quizzes, offers, and Service.

These technologies may collect or process information such as:

  • Session and browser identifiers;
  • Page views and page URLs;
  • User interactions and quiz or funnel steps;
  • Referrer, device, and browser information;
  • Session recordings where the relevant feature is enabled; and
  • Other analytics or usage events.

We use this information to identify technical or usability issues, measure funnel performance, analyze user behavior, and improve our website and digital services. Our configured PostHog browser replay feature uses memory-only identifiers and is restricted to eligible public pages; it does not record the account or member-area pages. First-party analytics use the separate Nocturnum storage listed in Section 2.

Availability and behavior depend on the integration and its settings. See Section 7 for the current limitations of our preference controls.

5. Advertising and Conversion Tracking

We use advertising and conversion-tracking integrations provided by Meta Platforms, TikTok, and ActiveCampaign.

These technologies may help us:

  • Measure whether advertisements lead to visits, quiz completions, subscriptions, or purchases;
  • Understand the effectiveness of advertising campaigns;
  • Attribute conversions to advertisements or campaigns;
  • Measure advertising audiences;
  • Improve advertising performance; and
  • Support more relevant advertising where permitted by applicable law.

Examples include Meta Pixel identifiers, TikTok Pixel identifiers, and ActiveCampaign site-tracking and conversion identifiers listed in Section 2. The applicable identifier can depend on how you reached Nocturnum and which quiz or checkout you use. See Section 7 for the current tracking-control limitations.

6. Local Storage

In addition to cookies, Nocturnum uses browser local storage and session storage. These technologies allow information to remain available in your browser without storing it as a traditional cookie.

We use browser storage for purposes including:

  • Maintaining authentication and session-related information;
  • Saving Witch Power Reading quiz answers and related post-payment progress;
  • Saving each Past Life Reading quiz variant's answers and navigation history separately;
  • Allowing an interrupted quiz to be resumed where its saved state is available;
  • Remembering Service states, reading progress, and preferences; and
  • Retaining email and quiz information entered during the applicable flow.

There is no separate onboarding-completion local-storage identifier in the current implementation. Relevant post-payment progress is stored in nebula-quiz-storage; account setup also uses the signed-in profile, notification permission, and app_locale cookie.

Other member-area features may store reading caches, saved reports, and local preferences until those items are replaced or cleared. Local-storage items do not necessarily expire when you close your browser. The Past Life Reading progress identifiers listed in Section 2 use session storage instead.

7. Managing Your Cookie Preferences

You can manage cookies and browser storage through your browser's privacy settings, as described in Section 8, and through controls offered by the relevant third-party provider.

Nocturnum does not currently offer a connected in-site Cookie Settings control for accepting, rejecting, or changing all non-essential tracking preferences. The website initializes first-party analytics, Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel, ActiveCampaign, and Microsoft Clarity on non-admin pages without waiting for a choice in a Nocturnum cookie banner. Individual providers may apply additional restrictions. The optional PostHog replay integration separately checks any saved consent choice and its configured locale and feature settings.

Deleting stored data alone does not prevent tracking scripts from loading again on a later visit. Browser blocking controls may limit cookies or tracking, but their coverage depends on the browser and provider.

If you have questions about tracking or wish to withdraw consent that you previously provided, contact hello@nocturnum.app. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before consent was withdrawn. Nothing in this policy replaces any consent or other requirements imposed by applicable law.

8. Browser Controls

Most web browsers allow you to manage cookies through their settings. Depending on your browser, you may be able to:

  • Block all cookies or third-party cookies;
  • Delete existing cookies and other site data;
  • Receive notifications when a cookie is being set; or
  • Configure different settings for individual websites.

These controls are generally available through your browser's Settings, Options, Privacy, or Preferences menu. You may also delete local-storage and session-storage information through your browser settings.

Blocking or deleting storage used for core functionality may affect user authentication, account access, payment processing, quiz recovery, post-payment progress, language preferences, or access to purchased content. Clearing quiz storage may remove information needed to resume your Witch Power Reading or Past Life Reading quiz.

9. Third-Party Cookies and Technologies

Some cookies and similar technologies used through Nocturnum are provided by third-party service providers. These include:

  • Supabase — authentication and session management;
  • PostHog — product analytics and optional session replay;
  • Microsoft Clarity — website analytics and session recording;
  • Meta Platforms and TikTok — advertising measurement and conversion attribution; and
  • ActiveCampaign — site tracking, marketing, and conversion measurement.

Checkout features also load the applicable payment provider, such as Stripe or Solidgate, whose hosted payment components may use their own security and payment technologies. These are separate from the Nocturnum payment-session cookies listed above.

These providers may process information in accordance with their own privacy and cookie practices and applicable contractual arrangements. For more information about how we process personal data and share it with service providers, review our Privacy Policy. Provider documentation also explains how their identifiers operate:

10. How Long Cookies Remain on Your Device

The duration of cookies and storage technologies depends on their purpose and type.

  • Session cookies generally remain for the browser session, subject to browser session-restoration settings.
  • Persistent cookies remain until their expiry or earlier deletion, and some are refreshed when used.
  • Local-storage items may remain until you, your browser, or the Service clears or replaces them.
  • Session-storage items usually remain for the current tab session, subject to browser restoration behavior.
  • In-memory identifiers last only for the current page lifetime.

The tables above describe the lifetimes configured by Nocturnum and identify where a provider controls the duration. Actual third-party expiry can vary with provider updates, settings, and browser restrictions. Browser-storage duration is distinct from the retention of information processed on our or a provider's servers.

11. Changes to This Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect:

  • Changes to the cookies or technologies we use;
  • Changes to Nocturnum or its functionality;
  • Changes to third-party service providers;
  • Legal or regulatory requirements; or
  • Other operational, security, or technical developments.

When we make changes, we may update the Last updated date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Cookie Policy periodically for the latest information about our cookie and storage practices.
